Update #34 – India Wave 2 deliveries finally happening

Hello India backers!
Your rewards have reached our partners in India, and deliveries are finally about to begin!
In fact, they should have called all of you yesterday. Please coordinate with them and get your figures into your hands. (I was told 6 people didn't pickup their call!)😅
Once these deliveries are completed, we'll do one final roll call to make sure every single backer has received their rewards, and then we will finally close the BackerKit.
If you've already spoken to me and we have a separate plan for how your figures will be delivered, don't worry. You are already my friend and, more importantly, an esteemed member of the Special Club™. 😂
I cannot tell you how relieved I will be once the final India deliveries are completed.
And after that...We start preparing for Wave 3.
There are already some exciting things happening behind the scenes.
Bart Sears is taking on some of our figure designs going forward. And on the comics side, Ron Marz is taking over the writing of Blood Beneath My Feet. Yep, the book with Vaali in it.
I wrote the first part of the series, and Ron will be writing Issues #2–5.
Tadam Gyadu, who created most of the artwork you've seen on our figure packaging, is doing the interior artwork for the series, and again, Bart Sears is doing the covers.
We released Issue #1 during Mumbai Comic Con in May, and our next Kickstarter will be for the Blood Beneath My Feet comic series.
But don't worry. there will be figures in there too. And some other merchandise. So we're not suddenly becoming a comic book company.
For now, though, I want to say thank you again to everyone who supported this Kickstarter and especially to our India backers who have waited through this ridiculously long final leg with us.
Most of our remaining figure inventory is now gone as well. So we'll soon be taking the current products off BackerKit and keeping whatever remains for future Kickstarters and events.
There is actually a bunch of other news I want to share with you guys...
But we'll save some of that for another day. 😊
First, let's get these last figures home.

Update #33 – The Last Stretch 🇮🇳📦

Hi everyone,
It's been about a month since the last update, so I thought I'd let everyone know where we stand.
I returned to the US on May 25. Since our shipment from China was getting delayed, I didn't want our India backers to wait any longer than necessary. So on June 8, I went to our warehouse and picked up the figures for all Kickstarter backers.
Getting hundreds of action figures from the warehouse to my house was... an adventure in itself. 😅
But that was just the beginning.
The next challenge was getting everything from the US to India.
After looking at different options, I decided to go with ParcelUp, run by Aksh Gupta. We'd used them before and they seemed reliable, fast, and experienced with shipments like these. All India backers must be familiar with the name and service.
The plan sounded simple enough. But destiny said 'nope'!
Instead of shipping from New York, everything had to go to Miami first.
Then came another surprise.
The freight company wouldn't pick up individual boxes from my house. They wanted everything palletized.
So over one weekend, I palletized around 160 cartons (roughly 884 kg) of inventory. That included not only Kickstarter rewards, but a good portion of our inventory as well.
On June 16, the pallets finally left my house for Miami.
And then...
There seemed to be a new update every few days.
"Received."
"Being broken down into parcels."
"Warehouse delay."
"Delay in France."
And now...
The shipment has finally reached India.
Unfortunately, it's currently experiencing another delay in Delhi.
As I'm writing this, it's July 27.
I know almost all of our remaining India backers have reached out asking for updates, and I truly appreciate your patience.
Believe me, nobody wants these figures in your hands more than I do.
It's been a long and, honestly, pretty stressful journey.
But for the first time in a while, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Everything is now in India.
Hopefully this is the final hurdle, ParcelUp comes through, and we'll be delivering your figures very soon. I have come back to India and extended my stay as well and planning to see the deliveries through before flying back to the US.
One thing I can promise is this:
BackerKit will remain open until every single backer has received their rewards. We're not considering this project complete until the last package has reached its home.
Thank you all once again for sticking with us through this adventure.

Update #32 - The Great Figure Rescue Mission

Hi everyone,
So... this happened. 😅
I uber-ed out to our warehouse in the middle of nowhere and picked up hundreds of action figures for our India backers. The warehouse people first laughed a little when they heard me say that I will uber out all these figures from here. But they clearly did not know me. Lol.
Also after thinking about it for a while, I decided that all India orders will now be shipped from the US using express shipping. If everything goes according to plan, people should start receiving their figures in June itself.
I felt it was a little unfair for everyone in India who has been patiently waiting while others were already opening their packages and posting photos.
After all, we all waited together. 😅
So we're making the extra effort and getting them out as quickly as possible.
A huge thank you to our partners who are helping make this happen.
And an even bigger thank you to everyone who waited patiently.

You had absolutely no obligation to do so, but when I asked if anyone was willing to wait a little longer, you reached out and said you'd wait.
That meant a lot to me.
I'll try to make it up to you somehow. 😊
At this point, it finally feels like we're approaching the end of the fulfillment journey. Figures left my house yesterday in 5 pallets that I made myself and I'll be coming to India to wrap up some other work next week.
One small favor before I go:
This entire effort ended up costing us a little more than originally planned. So if you've been thinking about picking up an extra figure or two, now might be a good time. And if you know someone who might enjoy Legends of the Ramayan, please send them our way.
The extra sales genuinely help offset some of the shipping costs we've absorbed along the way. 😅

Update #31 - Shipping, India & A Thank You!!!

Hi everyone,
I come again with another update... maybe the penultimate one before we wrap this whole thing up. 😅
As I write this, all orders except 5 international shipments and all India orders have gone out.
And honestly, I want to take a moment and thank my Indian brothers and sisters for their patience with me while some others understandably got a little impatient along the way.
Now, here’s what was happening behind the scenes.
For international shipping, we had charged around $35–$55 depending on the country.
This time, instead of me shipping everything out of my garage, I decided to use a fulfillment service so things could move faster and smoother.
Some of the shipping costs came out to be absolutely wild. 😅
There were packages where shipping alone was $150–$200–$250.
In some cases, the order itself was worth around $250 and the shipping was close to $200.
But I didn’t want to go back and charge anyone extra.
So I took those hits.
Contrary to public perception, independent toy creators are not very rich. Lol. 😂
But honestly, I’m treating all of this as a marketing opportunity too. How many people can proudly say their action figures are now sitting in collections across Germany, Taiwan, Indonesia, and all over the world? That part feels surreal to me.
For my India backers:
I’m going back to the US and trying to bring as many figures with me as possible for you. Plus the China shipment to India will be shipping soon too and all your orders are safe there.
If you’re in India and are willing to wait a little longer, please drop me a note. I promise I’ll make it up to you when I send your order. 😄

And if you don’t want to wait that’s totally understandable too. I’ll be bringing figures with me when I return in about 10 days or so. And if I’m unable to carry everything myself, I’ll figure out another way to get them to you.

Update #30 - Shipping Progress & Timeline

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update focused just on shipping, since I know a few people have been concerned.
Shipping Timeline
We’re actively shipping now, and all US & worldwide orders (except India) should be completed within the next 2 weeks.
India Shipping
India shipments will begin once the stock arrives from China to India.
As promised, we will honor the original $5–$10 shipping cost, no matter what the actual cost ends up being.
A big thank you to all our India backers for your patience. It really means a lot. To show our appreciation, we’re planning to include some free posters with your orders. 🙏

As mentioned previously, I am still away and using a fulfillment service to deliver. If you still want my signature on your figures, please drop me a note and we will hold them off till I return. I might become famous one day! 😂
